One of the most amazing things that I love about good clothes is history. Like the blue jeans you wear today! Levi Strauss created the first blue jeans in 1873 during the Gold Rush in San Francisco. What a monumental moment right? Well, that is history but that's not exactly the type of history I want to talk about. In my earlier post, I mentioned how I love my clothes because it has some personal history. And the best type of history is personal history because it's not only relative to you but also more important to you than anyone else. And believe it or not, there's a personal history with the clothes you wear. It may be boring, funny, special, cool. I've heard and read many interesting stories and traditions about clothes. I read an amazing short story of something as little as a watch somewhere (Darn, I forgot). A father was celebrating his son's birth by buying himself a great looking watch which he wore everyday as he was raising his son. The day the son turned 18, the father looked at him and said "Son, I don't know if you've noticed this, but I've been wearing this watch since the day you were born and I have taken great care of it just as I have taken good care of you. I'm not giving you this watch because it's your birthday. I'm giving this watch to you as a sign that I know you can take care of yourself." Great present right? The watch not only has a story to tell but it also serve as a sign of manhood and trust which carries a memory of a loving father. Just know that you can give a meaning to whatever you wear. It's special not because you wear it or someone else have worn it but because of its history. As long as you keep wearing what you're wearing, you create some remarkable history with them.
